From Athlete to Healer — by Way of Patient
Lea’s path into clinical massage therapy began through athletics — golf, basketball, and track & field — and was deepened by something no degree could teach: her own battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, fibromyalgia, and cervical cancer. She knows firsthand what it feels like to search for answers, to feel disconnected from your own body, and to fight your way back.
Armed with both a B.S. and M.S. in Kinesiology from San José State University and clinical training through the National Holistic Institute in Sacramento, Lea has spent 18+ years working across physical therapy clinics, chiropractic offices, high-end health clubs, and athletic performance environments — as a Strength & Conditioning Coach, Personal Trainer, PT Aide, and Corrective Exercise Specialist before founding Restore Motion.
Through martial arts training, she developed a deep appreciation for body awareness, discipline, and the mind-body connection. Her journey into Tai Chi and Qi Gong further transformed her approach — teaching her how to regulate the nervous system, restore circulation, and move in ways that heal rather than deplete. These principles guide every session today.
Lea founded Restore Motion to be the practice she wished had existed during her own health struggles — a place where people are heard, treated as individuals, and supported in addressing the root cause of their dysfunction, not just its symptoms.
CLINICAL SPECIALTIES
Stephanie Torres
CMT, NMT, CPT, ART (In Progress), Massage Therapy Insrtucor at NHI
Rooted in Purpose, Guided by the Body
Stephanie’s path into massage therapy began where most meaningful journeys do — with family. Inspired by the people closest to her, she pursued training at the National Holistic Institute, where she not only earned her license but discovered a deep calling to understand and work with the body on its own terms.
What sets Stephanie apart is the rare combination of clinical skill and intuitive presence she brings to every session. Trained in neuromuscular therapy, prenatal massage, and cupping, she blends targeted therapeutic techniques with mobility-focused work to address not just where it hurts, but why it hurts.
Beyond the treatment room, Stephanie gives back to the profession as a current instructor at the National Holistic Institute and has served as a Clinic Supervisor — experiences that have sharpened her ability to read the body, adapt her approach, and communicate clearly with patients about what she finds and how she can help.
Her philosophy is simple and powerful: healing is a collaboration. She doesn’t work on the body — she works with it. That distinction shapes everything from how she listens in your first session to the lasting changes she helps you build over time.
